    This course is aimed at graduates who will be able to manage projects and lead teams of engineers and technicians in the field of telecom tower erection using sound Health and Safety methodologies. This is a task-based, fast-paced and holistic program which will help in the upskilling of future entrepreneurs. It encompasses multi-dimensional skillsets in the fields of project management, human resources management, all the way to steel tower assembly and construction. The course will offer a hands-on approach with an ‘eagle-eye’ insight into the technical and non-technical complex requirements for tower erecting projects.

Course Outcomes

  • Analyze worker or production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving Health and Safety methods or implementing motivational plans.
  • Arrange for repairs of equipment or machinery.
  • Assign work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs.
  • Confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities.
  • Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities.
  • Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs.
  • Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Provide assistance to workers engaged in construction or extraction activities, using hand tools or other equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems.
  • Perform supervisory duties, such as recommending work assignments, approving leaves, or completing performance evaluations.
  • Plan method or sequence of operations for developing or testing experimental electronic or electrical equipment.
  • Plan, schedule, or monitor work of project support personnel.
  • Prepare project cost or work-time estimates.
  • Prepare, review, or coordinate ongoing modifications to contract specifications or plans.
  • Build prototypes from rough sketches or plans.
  • Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, or repair electrical instruments or testing equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers or other personnel to identify, define, or solve developmental problems.
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers or field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts.
  • Inspect electrical project work for quality control and assurance.
  • Safely climb and work on communications towers for the purpose of installing, replacing, and repairing antenna and other systems equipment
  • Effective and safe dealing with hazards associated with tower climbing, construction equipment, and working on near energized lines and equipment.
  • The ability to safely climb tall structures (30 meters or more) while carrying around 25kg of load.
  • Analyze delicate situations accurately and adopt a safe and appropriate course of action.
