TDTA is now FOA-Approved
TDTA is now an FOA-Approved Fiber Optic Training School. The Telecommunications and Digital Technology Academy has been accepted into the Fiber Optic Association’s global network of approved schools — and now prepares trainees for the industry’s core credential, the Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT).
Muscat, Oman — 8 October 2026 — The Telecommunications and Digital Technology Academy (TDTA) is proud to announce that it has been accepted as an FOA-Approved training school by the Fiber Optic Association (FOA), the international professional body for the fiber optics industry. TDTA is now listed in the FOA’s Approved School Database as School No. 781, authorized to deliver FOA-standard training and to offer the FOA certification exams to its trainees.
FOA approval is granted only to providers whose courses meet the Association’s curriculum standards, whose labs are equipped for hands-on practice, and whose instructors hold FOA instructor certification — placing TDTA among a select group of accredited fiber optic training providers worldwide.
What it means to be a CFOT. The Certified Fiber Optic Technician is FOA’s primary certification and the industry’s most widely recognized entry credential, built on the FOA’s KSA standard—verified Knowledge, demonstrated Skills, and the Ability to apply both on real installations.
What trainees master: fiber optic applications and installations; communications systems; components; premises and outside-plant cable installation; splicing and termination; testing (visual inspection, VFL, OLTS, OTDR); and hands-on lab practice.
Why certification matters:
- Build capacity — a portable, objective measure of real competence.
- Global recognition — FOA certifications are approved by the US Department of Labor and recognized internationally.
- Job opportunities — demand keeps rising with FTTH, 5G, data centers, and smart-city projects; many employers now require or prefer FOA certification.
- Career growth — a path from installer to splicer, tester, designer, supervisor and trainer.
- Taught by certified instructors. TDTA’s programs are delivered by highly experienced, FOA-certified instructors who combine deep industry practice with hands-on teaching.
