Data Center Cable Management
Category:

Course Overview
This course provides technicians with practical knowledge and skills for effective cable management in data centers and network racks. Participants will learn how to organize, dress, and label cables to ensure safety, improve airflow, facilitate troubleshooting, and maintain professional installations. Through a mix of theory and hands-on labs, technicians will gain the confidence to manage copper and fiber cabling efficiently while adhering to industry standards.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand importance of proper cable management for safety, performance & maintenance
- Identify different rack types, components, and their functions.
- Recognize various copper and fiber cable types and handle them correctly.
- Use cable management tools, labeling systems, and documentation practices.
- Apply best practices for dressing cables, managing slack, and organizing patch cords.
- Follow basic industry standards (TIA-568, TIA-942) relevant to physical routing and separation.
- Detect and correct common cable management issues affecting airflow and performance.
- Implement a complete rack patching and dressing scenario, including labeling, doc.
