Achieving the Diploma

  • Step 1. You will need to pass four modules, these include two core modules, one knowledge base module and one Practitioner module.
  • Step 2. Following this you will need to sit an oral examination, 50 minutes in length with two examiners.

How to achieve your International Diploma in Business Analysis

Step 1 – you will need to pass four modules

Core modules – you must pass both of these

  • Business Analysis Practice – learn how to take a holistic approach to the investigation and improvement of business analysis. Online study option or three days in a classroom with a one hour multiple choice exam.
  • Requirements Engineering – learn how to elicit, analyse, define, document and manage requirements. Online study option or three days in a classroom with a one hour multiple choice exam

Knowledge based modules – you must pass one of these

  • Business Analysis Foundation – a popular start to your Diploma journey, this certificate demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of business analysis principles and techniques. Online study option or three days in a classroom with a one hour multiple choice exam.
  • Business Change – demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of business analysis principles and techniques. Three days training with a one hour multiple choice exam.
  • IS Project Management – look into project management issues in the context of IS / IT applications. Three days training with a one hour multiple choice exam.
  • Organisational Behaviours – demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of business analysis principles and techniques. Two days training with a one hour multiple choice exam.

Practitioner modules – you must pass one of these

  • Modelling Business Processes – learn how to apply business process modelling and analysis techniques and understand a framework for business improvement. Online study option or three days in a classroom with a one hour multiple choice exam.
  • Systems Modelling Techniques – learn how to construct three types of model and describe interactions between them. Online study option or three days in a classroom with a one hour written exam based on a business scenario.
  • Systems Development Essentials – focus on the systems investigation and quality assurance that underpins all systems development. Online study option or three days in a classroom with a one hour written exam based on a business scenario.
  • Data Management Essentials – show you can implement good practice in data management, develop procedures for managing corporate data and work with the data management team. Online study option or four days in a classroom with a one hour written exam based on a business scenario.
  • Benefits Management and Business Acceptance – demonstrate your understanding of how a rigorous approach to benefits management ensures successful software solutions delivery. Online study option or three days in a classroom with a one hour written exam based on a scenario.

Step 2 – you will need to pass an oral exam

The 50 minutes oral examination will be with two examiners and the questions will be based on topics from your chosen specialist modules. 

    The questions asked by the oral examiner will require you to discuss and apply the topics in the oral examination syllabus. They may require you to demonstrate knowledge of a specific subject area, or to apply knowledge to a given scenario. 
    The questioning may cover a topic in overview or may require more detailed knowledge. The questions are designed to explore the interconnections between the different subjects and to examine your ability to apply techniques or combinations of techniques to different situations.
